Wisconsin is losing the heart and soul of its offense next season. With Jonathan Taylor declaring for the NFL and forgoing his final season in Madison, the Badgers have quite the void in the backfield.

Paul Chryst appears to be interested in adding talent and depth to fill that vacancy however he can. And according to 247Sports, the Badgers have some interest in Duke running back Brittain Brown, who has entered the NCAA transfer portal.

Brown is expected to earn his degree from Duke this spring and be a graduate transfer, allowing him the opportunity to play in the 2020 season. Along with Wisconsin, UCLA, Vanderbilt and Colorado have also reached out to the running back.

Schools are permitted to speak with players in the transfer portal without receiving permission from the school they are currently attending.

Brown’s last two seasons have been cut short due to injuries. This fall, he appeared in just three games, taking 12 carries for 56 yards. In three seasons with the Blue Devils, Brown has rushed for 1,126 yards and 10 touchdowns. He’s also tallied up 218 receiving yards.

Wisconsin is looking to replace Taylor, who racked up over 6,000 yards and 50 touchdowns in his career. He finished this season with 2,003 yards, the second straight-year in which he eclipsed the 2,000-yard mark.
