An Ohio State graduate assistant has agreed to take on a more permanent role on Jeff Hafley’s staff at Boston College.
Wednesday, Boston College introduced Sean Duggan as its new linebackers coach. Duggan joined the Ohio State defensive staff as a graduate assistant in February 2019. He’s served as a linebackers coach before, working in that same role at UMass in 2018 and Hawai’i in 2016 and 2017.
“After working with Sean at Ohio State, he was a guy who jumped out that if I ever landed a head job, I have to hire this guy,” Hafley said in a statement. “He is smart, reliable, sees things on gameday and really understands the big picture. He is well advanced beyond his years and has a chance to be a superstar in our profession.”
Duggan is also a former Eagle, playing at Boston College from 2011-14 and appearing in 45 career games during his time. In 2014, he was a team captain. In 2015, Duggan joined the staff at BC as a graduate assistant.
Duggan is the second Ohio State staff member to join Hafley in Chestnut Hill in the last two days. On Tuesday, Boston College announced that Phil Matusz would be the next strength and conditioning coach for the football program after spending the previous six seasons with the Buckeyes.
