North Dakota State makes college football history while claiming eighth FCS title in nine years

When it comes to dominating a sport, North Dakota State is on an entirely different level. In the FCS ranks, the Bison have been one of the greatest college football juggernauts we’ve ever seen.
North Dakota State’s reign of dominance continued on Saturday, locking up an eighth FCS national title in nine seasons. The Bison defeated James Madison 28-20 en route to another perfect season, finishing with a 16-0 record.
Claiming an eighth national championship in nine seasons and going undefeated are pretty impressive feats. But that 16-0 record is a brand new height for the program and anyone at any level of college football in well over a century.

According to ESPN, North Dakota State became the first college football team to complete a 16-win season since Yale in 1894. Quite a feat for a program that has accomplished just about everything this past decade.
First-year head coach Matt Entz is responsible for leading the program to the new height. He replaced Chris Kleiman this year, who left Fargo to become the head coach at Kansas State. Last season, the Bison finished the year 15-0 and won a national championship.
This season marks the third time North Dakota State has finished with an undefeated record.
