It was a rough weekend for ranked teams in the B1G

Every college basketball team aspires to be ranked in the Associated Press Poll, but this weekend, not having a number in front of the team name was actually a good thing.

All five of the B1G’s ranked teams were in action this weekend, playing either Friday, Saturday or Sunday, and all five had one thing in common — they all lost. That’s right, ranked teams from the B1G were 0-5 over the weekend.

Here’s a recap of those five games:

Friday, Jan. 10

  • Iowa def. #12 Maryland — 67-49

Saturday, Jan. 11

  • Indiana def. #11 Ohio State — 66-54
  • Wisconsin def. #20 Penn State — 58-49

Sunday, Jan. 12

  • Purdue def. #8 Michigan State — 71-42
  • Minnesota def. #19 Michigan — 75-67

Penn State was the only ranked team to lose at home, while the other four (Ohio State, Michigan State and Michigan) all lost road contests. Michigan and Penn State were the only two teams to keep it within single digits.

It’s been a crazy year in the B1G, and if this weekend is any indication, things are only going to get weirder as the season continues.
