As LSU prepares for Monday night’s national championship game against Clemson, quarterback Joe Burrow got to meet one of his childhood heroes.

LSU is in New Orleans, preparing for its national title bout on Monday night. But before the Tigers take the field, Burrow got the opportunity to meet New Orleans Saints quarterback, and future Hall of Famer, Drew Brees. In a short video posted by the Saints on Twitter, you could tell Burrow was excited to meet Brees.

Burrow also had the chance to pay Brees the ultimate compliment, telling the Super Bowl winning quarterback that he idolized him growing up and is the reason Burrow is a Saints fan.

Below is the video:

Brees has had tremendous success in the NFL, becoming the all-time touchdown passes leader and all time passing yardage leader over the last two seasons. He’s also won a Super Bowl during his time in New Orleans.

Burrow has become as beloved in Louisiana as Brees. This season, the senior quarterback has guided LSU to a 14-0 record, an SEC title and a chance to win a national title. He was also the Heisman Trophy winner this season.

Heading into Monday’s game, Burrow has thrown for 5,208 yards, 55 touchdowns and is completing passes at a near 78 percent clip.
