We’re only in mid-January, and already the B1G is proving to be one of the deepest and toughest leagues in college basketball. This past weekend was no exception.
All five of the conference’s ranked teams were in action this past weekend, and all five lost. Four of those games were road losses, and only one of those ranked teams lost at home. In a season that’s already been pretty strange, things got even weirder.
Here’s a quick recap of what happened:
Friday, Jan. 10
- Iowa def. #12 Maryland — 67-49
Saturday, Jan. 11
- Indiana def. #11 Ohio State — 66-54
- Wisconsin def. #20 Penn State — 58-49
Sunday, Jan. 12
- Purdue def. #8 Michigan State — 71-42
- Minnesota def. #19 Michigan — 75-67
After the zany weekend in the B1G, college basketball expert Jeff Goodman of Stadium released his new top 25 rankings. Six B1G teams are now listed, with Illinois and Wisconsin climbing into the poll.
Penn State dropped out.
Here’s a look at where Goodman has those six B1G teams ranked, followed by his complete list:
- No. 14: Maryland
- No. 15: Michigan State
- No. 19: Michigan
- No. 20: Ohio State
- No. 24: Illinois
- No. 25: Wisconsin
Updated Goodman Top 25. Let’s hope the AP voters follow suit and give Baylor the nod at No. 1 because Bears resume is best in country: pic.twitter.com/RbWBvObHxr
