Now that the college football season has officially concluded, we enter that grueling offseason stretch. Seven months will pass until college football is back on our television screens.

One of the fun things about the offseason, though, is looking ahead to next season. And shortly after LSU defeated Clemson to win the 2019 national title, FOX college football analyst Joel Klatt started to put together his way-too-early top 10. He’s got some interesting picks, and seems to be pretty high on Ohio State and Penn State.

The Buckeyes finished the 2019 season with a 13-1 mark, winning the B1G for a third-straight season. The teams only loss this year came in the Fiesta Bowl to Clemson. Penn State finished 11-2, with losses to Minnesota and Ohio State. The Nittany Lions defeated Memphis in the Cotton Bowl.

Ohio State and Penn State are considered to be the two (very early) favorites to win the B1G next season. That’s pretty consistent with what Klatt put together in his top 10 following the title game.

Here’s a look at what Klatt’s complete top 10 looks like:

  1. Clemson
  2. Ohio State
  3. Alabama
  4. Florida
  5. Oklahoma
  6. Penn State
  7. LSU
  8. Oregon
  9. Notre Dame
  10. Texas A&M

Klatt talked a lot about returning starting quarterbacks and having experience under center as a theme in his top 10. While that’s not the case for every team, the Buckeyes return Justin Fields and the Lions will have Sean Clifford back. It should make things really interesting next fall.

Below is Klatt’s explanation behind every team in his top 10, as shared on FOX:
