Former Maryland interim head coach Matt Canada has landed a job at the NFL level.

On Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers announced that they have added Canada to the staff as the new quarterbacks coach. This will be his first stop at the professional level of football.

Canada last coached at Maryland, where he was initially hired to be the team’s offensive coordinator. Shortly after his arrival, Canada was named the interim head coach when DJ Durkin was placed on administrative following the death of Maryland player Jordan McNair.

Durkin was eventually fired in late October and Canada coached the team for the entirety of the season. The Terrapins finished the year with a 5-7 record.

Prior to his time at Maryland, Canada had stops at LSU (2017), Pitt (2016), North Carolina State (2013-15), Wisconsin (2012), Northern Illinois (1998-2003, 2011) and Indiana (2004-2010). He’s worked as an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for most of his career.
