You could field a football team with the number of UConn players in the NCAA transfer portal

With the NCAA transfer portal coming into existence over the last few seasons, some schools have seen their fair share of players enter their names into the database and explore other opportunities. Perhaps nobody has been hit harder this past season than UConn.

In fact, the players from UConn who are now in the NCAA transfer portal could actually field they’re own football team, theoretically. They’d have enough for an entire offense, defense and a punter/kicker.

According to 247Sports’ transfer portal database, UConn now has 23 players exploring other opportunities. That’s almost unbelievable.

Three more players have recently entered the NCAA transfer portal — OL Cam DeGeorge, WR Garrison Burnett and DB Oneil Robinson are the latest additions. The 23 entries are just from this cycle, not dating back to the 2018 season.

UConn has appeared in just one bowl game since 2011, with that coming in 2015 under Bob Diaco. The Huskies have not won more than three games in a season since that year. UConn is just 6-30 since Randy Edsall’s return in 2017.
