Jalen Smith’s late bucket secures important road win as Maryland knocks off Indiana

Jalen Smith is a hero in College Park today.
Maryland and Indiana were in a tight battle in Bloomington on Sunday in an important B1G clash. With the Hoosiers leading 76-75 in the final minute of the game, the Terrapins got a huge defensive stop, allowing them an opportunity to take a late lead. That’s when Smith delivered the biggest bucket of the game.
With 16 seconds remaining, Smith worked his way into the post and was able to get the go-ahead basket, giving Maryland a 77-76 advantage. On the other end of the floor, IU’s Trayce Jackson-Davis missed a close shot with time expiring, and Smith secured the rebound and a Terps victory.
The last three B1G games played have all come down to the final seconds.

Smith owned the Hoosiers all afternoon, finishing the game with 29 points and 11 rebounds in Maryland’s win, making 10-of-14 shots from the floor. He also connected on four of his six attempts from 3-point land.
Anthony Cowan had 18 points and four assists and Darryl Morsell also hit double figures with 10 points.
Maryland has now won three straight games with the victory over Indiana. The Terrapins are now 6-3 in B1G play, and 16-4 overall. Indiana fell to 5-4 in the conference and 15-5 overall.
