The B1G has named this week’s Players of the Week.
Maryland’s Anthony Cowan Jr. was named the B1G Player of the Week while Michigan’s Franz Wagner was the Freshman of the Week.
Cowan led the Terrapins to an 82-72 win over No. 18 Iowa last Thursday, scoring 31 points, dishing six assists and grabbing six rebounds in the victory. Cowan had a huge second half in that game, scoring 19 points in the final 20 minutes.
It’s the second time this season Cowan has earned Player of the Week accolades. Maryland is now ranked No. 9 in the nation in the latest Associated Press poll.
Wagner was a key factor in Michigan’s 2-0 record last week, which included a victory over No. 25 Rutgers in Ann Arbor on Saturday. For the week, Wagner averaged 14 points and seven rebounds in the two contests.
Wagner scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds in a 79-68 road victory over Nebraska. He followed it up by getting 10 points and six rebounds in the win over Rutgers.
Michigan improved two 13-8 on the season with the two wins.
