National Signing Day was a bit uneventful in Columbus, with most of Ohio State’s pledges signing their Letter of Intent during the Early Signing Period. But the Buckeyes were able to add one more to the 2020 recruiting class.

Four-star athlete Cameron Martinez inked his name on the dotted line on Wednesday, confirming his committed to Ohio State. It wasn’t to anyone’s surprise, as the Muskegon, Michigan native had been committed to the program for some time.

On Wednesday morning, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day met with the media to talk briefly about the final additions to the Buckeyes’ staff. He sees an extremely talented player in Martinez.

“We’re gonna give him a chance to play on both sides of the ball, which is unique,” Day said, according to Bill Rabinowitz of the Columbus Dispatch. “He’s one of the most under-recruited kids in the entire country.”

Day also said that Martinez will have a chance at kick returner, as well.

Under-recruited is a relatively loose term when it comes to Martinez. The four-star talent received 28 offers, including 11 from the B1G. He’s ranked as one of the top 350 players in the 2020 recruiting class.

Martinez is part of an Ohio State recruiting class thank ranks fifth nationally and No. 1 in the B1G.
