A former Michigan State running back is continuing his college football career at the Division II level.
On National Signing Day, Weston Bridges inked his National Letter of Intent to continue his career at Ashland University, a Division II program that competes in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Bridges was originally a member of Michigan State’s 2017 recruiting class and was a three-star running back out of high school. The Akron, Ohio native was ranked as one of the top 600 players in his cycle and was listed as the No. 31 running back in the class.
Bridges used his first season in East Lansing as a redshirt year, not playing in any games in 2017. In 2018, Bridges appeared in six contests, rushing for 53 yards on 16 carries.
Seven games in to the 2019 season, Bridges decided to hit the NCAA transfer portal after not appearing in any games. He transitioned from running back to wide receiver, but still didn’t get on the field, prompting him to explore other opportunities in October.
Ashland finished the 2019 season with a 7-4 record.
