The rumors were true. After two decades of hostility towards Indiana University, Bob Knight finally returned to Assembly Hall.

Knight, who hadn’t stepped foot inside the arena since he was fired in 2000, made his return to Assembly Hall on Saturday as Indiana hosted Purdue. The school was honoring the 1980 men’s basketball team, which won a regular season B1G title.

As you can imagine, students, fans and alumni celebrated Knight’s return.

During his 29 seasons as the head coach at Indiana, Knight won 662 games with a .735 winning percentage. He led the Hoosiers to 11 B1G regular season titles and three national championships.

After 20 years of not returning to Assembly Hall, it was great to see “The General” back at the program he helped make famous.
