Two basketball stars from the B1G are among the 12 semifinalists for the Oscar Robertson Trophy, presented to the most outstanding men’s college basketball player by the United State Basketball Writers Association.

Iowa’s Luka Garza and Michigan State’s Cassius Winston both made the cut for the award. Both are considered to be the premier players in college basketball at their respective positions.

Garza is averaging nearly a double-double this season, posting 23.1 points and 9.9 rebounds per contest. He’s totaled 13 double-doubles on the year. Garza has scored 20 points or more in 18 games and scored a season-high 44 points against Michigan on the road.

The Hawkeyes are currently 17-7 on the season and 8-5 in B1G play.

Winston leads Michigan State in scoring, assists and steals this season. He’s averaging 18.3 points, 5,7 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game for the Spartans. Winston has scored in double figures in all but three games this season, and has one double-double.

Michigan State is 17-8 with a 9-5 mark in B1G play.
