Request granted: Nebraska OL receives sixth year of eligibility

The Nebraska football team received some positive news this week, as offensive lineman Christian Gaylord was granted a sixth year of eligibility from the NCAA. He announced the good news on Twitter on Friday.

“I’m excited to announce my waiver to extend my eligibility for the 2020-21 season has been approved by the NCAA,” Gaylord wrote. “I’m excited to play one more season at the best college football program in the NCAA.”

Gaylord has played in 33 career games over his five years in Lincoln. He’s served primarily as a rotational player on the offensive line and on special teams for the Huskers. However, he provides experience and depth for a group that was one of the weaker areas for the team in 2019.

In fall camp, Gaylord suffered a season-ending injury, which prompted him to apply for a sixth season of eligibility.

Nebraska finished the 2019 season with a 5-7 record. The program is 9-15 in two years under Scott Frost.
