Pro Football Focus draft analyst tabs one former Hawkeye as ‘most underrated player’

The NFL Scouting Combine gets underway this week, meaning several former college football stars will get the opportunity to show they belong in the sport’s highest league.
As players prepare to improve their draft stock over the coming weeks, there’s one former Iowa star that Pro Football Focus lead draft analyst Mike Renner expects to see big things from. In fact, he calls the ex-Hawkeye the “most underrated player” available in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Safety Geno Stone received the honor of “most underrated” from Renner heading into this year’s draft. The 5-foot-10, 210-pound defensive back is coming off a stellar season with the Hawkeyes and declared for the NFL Draft after the 2019 campaign, forgoing his final year in Iowa City.

Last fall, Stone totaled 70 tackles, four pass break-ups, three forced fumbles and an interception in 13 games. He helped lead the Hawkeyes to a 10-3 record, which included a blowout victory over USC in the Holiday Bowl.
In three seasons with the Hawkeyes, Stone collected 127 total tackles, broke up seven passes, intercepted six passes and forced four fumbles.
Stone is one of five former Hawkeyes headed to Indianapolis for the NFL Scouting Combine. Defensive end A.J. Epenesa, defensive back Michael Ojemudia, quarterback Nate Stanley and offensive lineman Tristan Wirfs will also be in attendance.
