Chase Young doesn’t lack confidence. Players don’t produce on the field the way the Ohio State defensive end did last season without at least a little bit of that swagger.

Young’s confidence was on full display on Thursday, as he met with the media at the NFL Scouting Combine. Though he’s expected to be the No. 2 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft come late April, the former Buckeye believes he’s the best player in this year’s class.

“I definitely think I’m the best player in the draft,” Young said on Thursday. “I think I showed it on my tape. You can go to every game. I think I showed it.”

Last season was certainly one of the most dominant we’ve seen from a defensive end at the college level in a long time. Young ended the year with a B1G-best 16.5 sacks and forced six fumbles, broke up three passes and blocked a kick. He earned the moniker of “game-wrecker” from the likes of FOX analyst Joel Klatt and other college football experts.

Even NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah has Young listed as the No. 1 overall prospect in this year’s class.

Young won’t participate in on-field drills during the NFL Scouting Combine this week, letting his play throughout the college football season do the talking. The former Ohio State star really has nothing to gain by participating, so he’ll just go through interviews and the medical exams over the week in Indianapolis.
