Huskers WR decides to medically retire from football

A Nebraska wide receiver has decided to step away from football.
On Monday, the school announced that junior receiver Jaevon McQuitty has decided to medically retire from football. He played in nine career games for the Huskers, making two receptions for 14 yards. Both catches came in 2019.
The news of McQuitty’s medical retirement comes just a few days after kicker Barret Pickering also decided to hang up the helmet and shoulder pads. He was the second kicker to leave Nebraska’s team this offseason.
McQuitty’s departure also comes at a time when senior receiver JD Spielman took a “temporary” leave of absence from the program, due to personal health concerns. Spielman is with his family in Minnesota and is not expected to participate in spring practice.
Nebraska’s spring game is scheduled for Saturday, April 18.
