NCAA announces cancellation of 2020 tournament

The news that basketball and sports fans everywhere were dreading became official Thursday afternoon.

In a statement released by Inside the NCAA, it was announced that the 2020 men’s and women’s basketball tournaments have officially been canceled. Additionally, the NCAA is canceling all remaining winter and spring championships. This would include the College World Series as a part of the decision.

This is certainly a blow to many athletes, fans, and even the institutions involved. However, it should be noted this is to help what has been classified as a pandemic as COVID-19 continues to spread.
