Former Michigan WR Roy Roundtree lands in-state coaching gig

Former Michigan wide receiver and staff member Roy Roundtree is moving on from Ann Arbor for a coaching job within the Michigan state borders.

Roundtree has been named the next wide receivers coach at Grand Valley State in Allendale, Michigan. The school announced the hiring this week. Roundtree heads to GVSU after spending the last two seasons on Jim Harbaugh’s staff as a graduate assistant and Michigan.

“We are excited to have Roy join our football program,” Grand Valley State head coach Matt Mitchell said in a news release.

“He brings instant credibility to the wide receiver room because he produced on the field at the highest level, and he has also coached it on the field at the highest level.”

Roundtree was a wide receiver at Michigan from 2009-12 and was a two-time All-B1G honoree. He appeared in 50 career games with the Wolverines, making 154 receptions for 2,304 yards and 15 touchdowns.
