Complications from the coronavirus claimed the life of the father of Louisville wide receiver Corey Reed Jr. this week. Louisville released a statement on Thursday.

Corey Reed Sr. passed away on Wednesday morning after complications with COVID-19. He was 43 years old.

“My deepest condolences go out to Corey and his entire family,” Louisville head coach Scott Satterfield said in a statement. “This horrible virus has affected so many people, and it’s even more difficult when it touches someone in the U of L football family. We have been in contact with Corey and his family, and are here to support him during this extremely difficult time.”

Reed, a native of Atlanta, was a member of Louisville’s 2017 recruiting class. He left the program after the 2018 season to attend a junior college. He returned to the Cardinals football program following the 2019 season.

Our thoughts go out to Reed and his family.
