Ohio State’s pursuit of Bucknell transfer guard Jimmy Sotos has paid off.

Monday afternoon, Sotos announced via Twitter that he has committed to continue his academic and athletic careers in Columbus, joining Chris Holtmann and the Buckeyes. Several programs were after the highly-touted transfer guard since he decided to enter his name in the NCAA transfer portal.

“Now, I believe it’s time to take the next step in my journey,” Sotos wrote on Twitter. “For the next two years, I will be attending Ohio State University.”

On Sunday, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reported that Sotos had been considering Gonzaga, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio State, Vanderbilt and Xavier to continue his basketball career.

Sotos will have to sit out the 2020-21 season before being eligible for the 2021-22 campaign, per NCAA rules, unless he is granted an immediate eligibility waiver. The 6-foot-3 guard brings plenty of experience to the Buckeye roster, having made 77 career starts while at Bucknell.

Last year, Sotos averaged 8.1 points, 3.9 assists and 3.4 rebounds per contest.

This is a huge boost for the Buckeyes, which have seen DJ Carton and Luther Muhammad enter their names in the NCAA transfer portal recently.
