It took a little while, but Michigan State has finally landed its first commitment of the 2021 recruiting class. It’s also the first verbal pledge of the Mel Tucker era in East Lansing.

On Tuesday, three-star running back Davion Primm gave his verbal commitment to the Spartans, the first player to do so during this recruiting cycle. The native of Oak Park, Michigan made his announcement with a message on Twitter.

“I would like to thank all the coaches that thought highly of me to afford an opportunity to continue my academic and athletic career at their university,” Primm wrote on Twitter. “With that being said, I am officially committed to Michigan State University.”

Primm is a 6-foot, 200-pound running back who ranks as the No. 86 player at his position and is listed as the No. 31-ranked player from the state of Michigan. He received a dozen offers during the recruiting process.

Along with Michigan State, Primm received interest from Colorado, Iowa State, Temple, Central Michigan, Western Michigan and several others.

With Primm’s commitment, every team in the B1G now has at least one verbal pledge in the 2021 class.
