Report: Drew Brees will pursue broadcasting career after NFL retirement, but it won’t be with ESPN

A majority of Drew Brees’s NFL career is now behind him, so as the years left of his time as a quarterback with the New Orleans Saints continue to dwindle, the future Hall of Famer is looking at his post-football options. Apparently, working from the broadcast booth is an option.
Recently, ESPN reportedly reached out to Brees regarding the opportunity to join the Monday Night Football crew. But the former Purdue star is not interested in joining the network and has agreed to broadcast games with another network.
Per Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, Brees will be signing a contract with NBC Sports to make him “a fixture on NFL telecasts far after he finishes playing.” ESPN had reportedly offered Brees a contract around $6 million per year, but NBC’s pitch was “competitive with it.”
The contract will start once Brees announces his retirement from the NFL, and he’s expected to be a potential replacement for current Sunday Night Football analyst Cris Collinsworth.
“Like all NFL fans, we look forward to watching Drew continue his Hall of Fame career this fall, and we are confident his post-playing career will be just as successful,” Greg Hughes, an NBC Sports spokesman, to the New York Post.
