Urban Meyer says Chase Young was ‘put together by God’

Chase Young might not be the No. 1 overall selection on Thursday night during the 2020 NFL Draft, but many believe he’s the best prospect of this year’s class. His size, athleticism and talent makes him one of the most complete players in the draft.

Former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer had the privilege of recruiting and developing Young into the star he has become. As much as Young’s time with the Buckeyes helped him transition into the player he is today, the former OSU leader says that the defensive end

“God put together that guy,” Meyer said told NBC Sports in Washington. “He said, ‘I’m going to make one of the best defensive ends to ever play college football.’ I think he’s going to carry on in the NFL. He’s got it all.”

Young had an incredible final season at Ohio State, tallying 16.5 sacks, forcing six fumbles and blocking a kick in 12 games. He was named the B1G Defensive Player of the Year, was a consensus All-American and received the invitation to New York as a Heisman Trophy finalist.

Now, Young is expected to be the No. 2 overall selection in the NFL Draft, joining former teammates Dwayne Haskins and Terry McLaurin with the Washington Redskins.
