A seventh player from the state of Iowa in the 2021 recruiting class has committed to the Hawkeyes.

Kirk Ferentz and the Iowa coaching staff received a verbal commitment from three-star defensive end and in-state talent Max Llewellyn on Wednesday. He became the 10th member of the Hawkeyes’ 2021 class, which is comprised mostly of in-state prospects currently.

“I can’t thank each and every single coach enough that has taken the time to evaluate me as a recruit,” Llewellyn wrote on Twitter. “This whole process has been a life changing experience and I’m forever grateful! I have decided to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Iowa!!”

Llewellyn is a native of Urbandale, Iowa and will bring a 6-foot-5, 230-pound frame to Iowa City. He’s ranked as the No. 14 player from his home state.

Llewellyn has received several offers, many of those coming from Power Five programs. He chose Iowa over Penn State, Nebraska, Michigan State, Northwestern, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State and Missouri, among others.

Iowa’s class now ranks 11th nationally and fourth in the B1G.
