Report: P.J. Fleck one of several to be furloughed at University of Minnesota

The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has affected millions of jobs across the country over the last month, and colleges and universities are no different. Even football coaches are not exempt from potential pay cuts and furloughs.
According to a report from Andy Greder of the Pioneer Press, Minnesota head coach P.J. Fleck will be one of many the university furloughs in the coming weeks and months. The fourth-year leader of the Gophers will be taking a one-week furlough through the fiscal year, which ends June 30.

The University of Minnesota currently plans to furlough 200 senior leaders to help with expected revenue shortages. Boise State University and the University of Louisville are schools who have also made similar decisions, which includes furloughing members of the athletic department.
With so much lost revenue due to the pandemic, many other schools and universities may have to take similar measures. It will be surprising if Fleck is the only B1G head coach to take a week of furlough leave in the current climate.
Employees on furlough are not permitted to work during that time.
