Maryland is adding some depth to its defensive line after landing a commitment from a junior college transfer.

Lackawanna Community College defensive lineman Greg Rose committed to Maryland on Thursday. He made his announcement with a post on Twitter. He heads to College Park after spending one year with the Falcons.

“I would like to first thank my coaches, family and my juco brothers for all the support that they have given to me,” Rose wrote on Twitter. “It has been a long journey and I thank Coach Mark Duda for supporting me and for teaching me how to be the best student athlete that I can be. With that being said, I am shutting down my recruitment. I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at the University of Maryland!”

Rose led Lackawanna in sacks (10) and tackles for loss (13.5) during the 2019 season. He finished the year with 44 total stops, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He could make a serious impact for the Terrapins along a defensive line that struggled mightily at times last fall.

Maryland’s 2020 recruiting class ranked No. 31 nationally and sixth in the B1G. This is another solid addition for Mike Locksley and the Terps.
