This year’s draft is unlike any other in history, and it’s made things a little bit different for the players who are hearing their names called by NFL Commmissioner Roger Goodell. There’s no walking across the stage, no red carpet walkway and no giant group gatherings to celebrate the event.
Certain restrictions and limitations have needed to be implemented as the country continues to battle the COVID-19 pandemic. But that doesn’t mean players who get selected in this year’s draft can’t celebrate in some way, shape or form when their dreams become a reality.
On Thursday night, former Ohio State defensive end Chase Young was selected early in the first round, selected No. 2 overall by the Washington Redskins. While he had a small gathering inside his home for the special moment, there were plenty of friends, family and fans waiting outside Young’s home to celebrate with the new NFL star.
SportsCenter shared a video of the scene outside Young’s home when he stepped outside the door to celebrate his selection.

It may not be exactly how Young planned it, but he was still able to share the incredible moment with the people closest to him.
Young heads to the NFL after a stellar career at Ohio State. The defensive end racked up 21 tackles for loss, 16.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, three pass break-ups and a blocked field goal in 2019. The Buckeyes finished 13-1, won a third-straight B1G title and appeared in the College Football Playoff.
Young will join former teammates Dwayne Haskins and Terry McLaurin in Washington.
