Purdue is heading into the weekend with a recruiting class that’s just a little bit bigger.

The Boilermakers received a verbal commitment from three-star offensive guard Zach Richards, a native of Mooresville, Indiana. He became the sixth player of the 2021 recruiting cycle to give his verbal pledge to the Boilermakers and is the third in-state player to commit.

“I’m excited to make my commitment to Purdue University to compete at the next level as a Boilermaker,” Richards wrote on Twitter.

Richards is a 6-foot-3, 295-pound offensive lineman who will bring good size and strength to West Lafayette. He’s ranked as one of the top 15 players from Indiana, coming in at No. 14, per 247Sports. Richards is also listed as the No. 35 offensive guard in the 2021 cycle.

Purdue has been a tad behind on the recruiting trail this cycle, with just six commitments right now. Three of those pledges have come in the month of April. Right now, the Boilermakers rank 35th nationally and 10th in the B1G.

Richards held offers from five other schools, picking Purdue over Illinois, Indiana, Cincinnati, Central Michigan and Ohio.
