The first Michigan State player is off the board.
Cornerback Josiah Scott was the first Spartan to be selected in the 2020 NFL Draft, getting taken in the fourth round. The former MSU defensive back was selected No. 137 overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Scott opted to forgo his final season at Michigan State to pursue a career in the NFL. He was an instant star in East Lansing, seeing plenty of playing time as a freshman in 2017 and only improving as his college career continued.
Scott endured an injury ahead of the 2018 season that kept him sidelined for most of the season. When he return to the field, though, he didn’t miss a beat. He played in the final five games that year and totaled 13 tackles, seven pass break-ups and two interceptions.
In 2019, Scott had another big year in Michigan State’s secondary. He collected 55 tackles, broke up seven passes, hauled in three interceptions, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble. Those numbers helped get the former four-star recruit a fourth-round draft selection this year.
