Former Washington and Georgia quarterback Jacob Eason is the talk of the NFL Draft, not because of where he was selected but because of what he said after he was picked by the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday.
Eason was selected by the Colts in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. It was a bit of a strange pick, as the franchise recently decided to bring in former Chargers quarterback Phillip Rivers. Indianapolis also has Jacoby Brissett and Chad Kelly on the roster.
But Eason made it clear that he’s not afraid of competition. He used some interesting words to explain his plan when he arrives in Indianapolis.
“As soon as this virus calms down, I’m gonna go in there and compete my nuts off,” Eason told reporters, including Zak Keefer of The Athletic.
OK, then. It’s probably a good thing he wasn’t interviewed on live television following his selection on Saturday.
Eason, who transferred from Georgia to his home state following a knee injury, is 6-foot-6 and 231 pounds. In 13 games as a junior last season, he completed 260-of-405 passes (64.2 percent) for 3,132 yards with 23 touchdowns to eight interceptions.
