Louisville football signee and wide receiver Dexter Rentz was shot and killed in Orlando late Saturday night, according to a report from WESH. He was just 18.

Rentz was killed in the Saturday night shooting and four others were injured, according to the report. He attended Ocoee High School in Central Florida and signed to play college football at Louisville in December 2019.

Louisville head coach Scott Satterfield released a statement following Rentz’s death.

“We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Dexter Rentz. He was a great young man who had a contagious personality, and was able to light up a room with his smile. He was a great kid to be around and he will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Rentz family during this extremely difficult time.”

Rentz was a team captain at Ocoee High School and was also a standout track and field athlete.
