Richard Pitino has added to his roster from the transfer portal.

Evan Daniels of 247Sports reported on Monday evening that 6-foot-8 forward Drew Peterson will be transferring from Rice to Minnesota to continue his basketball career. He was also considering Creighton and Vanderbilt as potential landing spots, but said Minnesota was the best situation.

Last season season at Rice, Peterson averaged 11.1 points, 6.5 rebound sand 3.5 assists a game, while shooting 41.1-percent from the field. He’s a versatile forward who can do just about everything on the court, and will serve as a strong addition to the Golden Gophers.

Peterson becomes the third player to transfer from his original program to Minnesota. Drake’s Liam Robbins and Central Michigan’s Brandon Johnson will also be joining Pitino and company in Minneapolis.

Minnesota was 15-16 last season with an 8-12 mark in B1G games.
