Iowa lands pledge from heavily-recruited WR, Top 3 prospect out of Nebraska

Iowa’s success on the recruiting front with the 2021 recruiting class has crept into May.
On Wednesday, the Hawkeyes received a verbal pledge from three-star wide receiver Keagan Johnson, swiping out of rival state Nebraska. The Bellevue West receiver made his announcement via Twitter.
“I spent many nights praying about this decision. I’m blessed to be in the position I’m in today,” Johnson wrote. “I want to thank my family, coach, and teammates. Without you guys this isn’t possible. With that being said…I’m committed to the University of Iowa.”

Landing Johnson was a huge steal for Iowa, as the receiver is ranked as the No. 3 player out of Nebraska and is one of the top 400 players in the 2021 recruiting class, per 247Sports. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound receiver ranks No. 379 overall.
Johnson had a huge year in 2019, totaling 52 catches for 672 yards and eight touchdowns. Those numbers helped land him offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska and Kansas State.
Iowa’s 2021 recruiting class is incredibly strong right now, sitting at No. 6 nationally and second in the B1G.
