Less than a month after Iowa received a verbal commitment from Jordan Oladokun out of Tampa, Florida, the three-star defensive back has decided to reconsider his options.

Friday morning, Okladokun announced on Twitter that he has decided to decommit from Iowa and re-open his recruitment. The three-star defensive back initially committed to the Hawkeyes in mid-April. Since that time, he has received offers from Appalachian State, Florida Atlantic and Washington State.

“After talking to my parents I have decided that I will be decommitting from the University of Iowa and opening my recruitment back up,” Oladokun wrote. “I will not be speeding my recruitment up for anyone!”

With so many restrictions on the recruiting front due to the coronavirus pandemic, coaches have been forced to get more creative with pitches to prospects. Some might make premature decisions due to the current situation.

Oladokun is a versatile two-way player who has played the defensive back and wide receiver positions at the high school level. He is ranked as the No. 69 cornerback in the 2021 recruiting class and is No. 118 out of the state of Florida.

Iowa is now down to 14 commits in the 2021 class, sitting sixth nationally and second in the B1G.
