Every team in college football is feeling the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. With spring practice canceled, each program has lost valuable training time during the offseason.

Some programs may be affected more than others, though. Big Ten Network’s Gerry DiNardo suggests that there are two B1G teams who have been hurt more from missing spring practice than others. Those two teams are Indiana and Maryland.

DiNardo says that Indiana’s offensive coordinator change from Kalen DeBoer to Nick Sheridan is a big reason why the Hoosiers could’ve benefited greatly from this year’s spring practices. He also commented that IU’s historical struggle to build upon success consistently is a concern.

Maryland was the other program DiNardo mentioned, as the team transitions into Year 2 of the Mike Locksley era. The Terrapins were 3-9 last season and struggled mightily on both sides of the football. As a head coach still trying to figure things out, DiNardo says Locksley missing these practices is significant.
