Michigan crossed into enemy territory to get its latest commitment.

The Wolverines received a verbal pledge from highly-touted three-star safety Rod Moore on Sunday. The Clayton, Ohio native is ranked as one of the top 400 prospects in the 2021 recruiting class and is listed as the No. 12 overall player from his home state.

Allen Trieu of 247Sports reported the commitment on Sunday.

Moore had two dozen offers on the table and decided to become the 13th member of Michigan’s 2021 class. He’s listed as the No. 378 overall talent in the cycle and the No. 22 safety.

Several B1G schools offered Moore, including Iowa, Northwestern, Indiana, Wisconsin and Maryland. Outside the B1G, he had interest from Notre Dame, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Virginia, Pitt and others.

During his junior season at Northmont, Moore put up quite the stat line. He totaled 85 tackles, intercepted four passes, forced three fumbles and recovered two more. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound safety is a quick defensive back who plays aggressive and physical on the field. He also has a great nose for the football.

With Moore’s commitment, Michigan takes a bump up to eighth in the national recruiting rankings and sits fourth in the B1G.
