Michigan went back to the land of Zach Gentry.

For the second time in three years, the Wolverines landed the top recruit in the state of New Mexico.

Four-star 2017 running back O’Maury Samuels announced his commitment to the Wolverines on Sunday night.

The 5-11, 190-pound back chose Michigan over the likes of Arizona and TCU after visiting Ann Arbor for the spring game on Friday night.

Samuels is rated the No. 21 running back in the 2017 class, and he’s ranked No. 292 nationally in the 247sports composite rankings. He’s already Michigan’s third running back in the class and the second to commit in the last week.

Since March 22, the Wolverines got commitments from seven players in the 2017 class, which is up to seventh nationally in the 247sports rankings.
