Now that it’s starting to look more and more like the college football season will commence, in some capacity, this fall, people are starting to discuss football things. One of the most popular topics is naming an early favorite for the 2020 Heisman Trophy.

SEC Network host Paul Finebaum has made his early pick.

Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence and Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields are currently leading the pack as the two favorites to receive college football’s highest individual honor next season. And, yes, Finebaum believes one of those two will win the Heisman.

His pick?

“I like Trevor Lawrence. He was the favorite last year,” Finebaum said on Get Up. “He struggled, he tries too hard to be Tom Brady and Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson all wrapped into one. When he finally calmed down, he got into a rhythm. He got stymied in the championship game, but I think he’ll come back better than ever and his team is looking very good, has a chance to make a run to the playoffs.”

Lawrence has lost just one game as a starter at Clemson and has led the Tigers to two national championship appearances, winning it all following the 2018 season. He was an early favorite to claim the award last season but struggled early.

Fields recently overtook Lawrence as the favorite to win the award this season after leading Ohio State to a 13-1 record last year. He accounted for 50 touchdowns and nearly led the Buckeyes to the National Championship Game in his first year as a starter.

Both players should be incredibly fun to watch this fall.
