Purdue loses another player to NCAA transfer portal

Another Purdue football player has decided to explore his options outside of West Lafayette.

Redshirt sophomore Jordan Rucker announced earlier this week that he has entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal. The cornerback was a former three-star member of Purdue’s 2018 recruiting class but has seen limited action since arriving in West Lafayette.

“The relationships I have built with my teammates is unmatchable and I wish Purdue the best,” Rucker said on Twitter. “With that being said, I have entered my name into the transfer portal.”

Rucker did not appear in any games with the Boilermakers in 2018, using that season as a redshirt year. This past season, he appeared in five games as a reserve but did not record any statistics.

When he leaves Purdue, Rucker will have three seasons of eligibility remaining, but must sit out the 2020 season if he transfers to another FBS institution, due to NCAA regulations. He could receive an immediate eligibility waiver from the NCAA if there’s an extenuating circumstance.

Purdue has seen three players hit the transfer portal this month. Rucker joins fellow cornerback Kenneth Major — who committed to Middle Tennessee — and defensive end Willie Lane to leave the program.
