Minnesota is adding a 6-foot-7 guard to its basketball roster.

On Monday, the Golden Gophers received a commitment from Both Gach, who decided to transfer from Utah, according to the Star Tribune. Minnesota beat  Auburn, Creighton, Iowa State and Maryland for Gach’s commitment. He decided to transfer after initially entering his name in the NBA Draft, but opted to withdraw and return to the college level.

Joining the Golden Gophers will be a bit of a homecoming for Gach, who is from Austin, Minnesota.

Gach spent two seasons at Utah, appearing in 57 games during those two seasons. As a freshman during the 2018-19 season, Gach averaged 7.7 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest. Last year, Gach started in 25 of 27 contests for the Utes and improved his numbers to 10.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game.

Gach will have to sit out during the 2020-21 season unless he receives an immediate eligibility waiver from the NCAA. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
