Belk’s nine-year run as the title sponsor of the bowl game in Charlotte, North Carolina has come to an end. On Thursday, the new name of the annual postseason game was announced.

The Charlotte bowl game will now be known as the Duke’s Mayo Bowl moving forward. The announcement of the official name change came on Thursday morning. Belk had been the title sponsor from 2011-19.

The bowl game features an ACC team against either an SEC or B1G opponent. In the final installment of the Belk Bowl, Kentucky defeated Virginia Tech 37-30 last season.

Duke’s Mayo will be the fourth title sponsor of the bowl game in Charlotte. Previous sponsors include Continental Tire (2002-04), Meineke Car Care Center (2004-10) and Belk (2011-19). The game has been played since 2002.

The B1G will have a team appear in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl in 2020, 2022 and 2024. SEC teams will play in the game in 2021, 2023 and 2025. The ACC will have a team represented each season.
