A Big 12 program has shut down it voluntary workouts for the time being in response to 14 student-athletes testing positive for COVID-19.

Bruce Feldman of The Athletic reported on Saturday that Kansas State has temporarily paused all voluntary workouts on campus for football student-athletes. Last week, the University of Houston announced it had also stopped all workouts when six individuals tested positive for the virus.

“Kansas State, in conjunction with university and county medical officials, has announced it has paused all voluntary workouts for football student-athletes for 14 days following the most recent COVID-19 test results,” Feldman wrote on Twitter. “A total of 14 student-athletes have tested positive for Covid.”

Several schools have reported that student-athletes have tested positive for the virus. Most recently, Texas announced that 13 student-athletes tested positive while Clemson revealed that 28 student-athletes and staff members tested positive for the virus.

Kansas State is one of the few — at least currently — that has halted workouts as a result.
