Two B1G teams are still in the running for a 4-star weak-side defensive end out of Virginia.

Tuesday, defensive end Kelvin Gilliam announced the top 10 programs he’s still considering during the recruiting process. Minnesota and Penn State continue to stay in the mix. The remaining eight programs are Florida, Kentucky, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Cal, LSU, Oklahoma and Texas.

Gilliam made his announcement with a post on Twitter.

According to 247Sports, Gilliam is hovering around being one of the top 100 prospects in the 2021 recruiting cycle. Currently, he’s listed at No. 106 overall. He’s also considered to be the No. 7 weak-side defensive end of the class.

At 6-foot-3, 250 pounds, Gilliam has received more than 30 offers on the recruiting trail. Per his evaluation on 247Sports, he’s excellent with his hands and has great speed to beat offensive lineman around the edge. He has the potential to be an early starter in his college career.

Both Minnesota and Penn State are doing fairly well on the recruiting trail this cycle. The Golden Gophers currently rank 15th nationally while the Nittany Lions are 24th. But there’s still plenty of time until the Early Signing Period for both to receive a few more strong commitments.
