Tailgating is one of the aspects of college football that separates it from other sports. Every Saturday at stadiums across the country, fans arrive on campus hours before kickoff to enjoy food, football and maybe an adult beverage or two.

And just like the game of football itself, some schools do tailgating a little bit better than others. Recently, 247Sports decided to rank the best tailgating atmospheres in the sport.

Three B1G schools were included in the list that ranked the top 10 tailgating scenes in college football.

Ohio State, Iowa and Nebraska were the three programs included. Here is where those three schools ranked, and 247Sports’ explanation behind each team’s ranking:

No. 7: Ohio State

There’s actual room to walk for the most part around Ohio Stadium on gamedays, not always easy-to-find at programs inside the Top 10 annually. And unless you’re wearing maize and blue, the hospitality is commendable for opposing fans. For a program that is in the national championship picture every year, Buckeyes fans have never rested on their tailgating greatness and the passion is evident outside the ‘Shoe.

No. 9: Iowa

Iowa fans are some of the most loyal in college football and they bring it every weekend there’s a game in Iowa City. The Pedestrian Mall is the heart of downtown Iowa City and worth a visit if you’re in town.

No. 10: Nebraska

Chants of “Husker! Power!” go on for hours on gamedays in Lincoln and there are endless options for great tailgating outside Memorial Stadium, including the party at Pinnacle Bank Arena, Husker Nation Pavilion and the NZone, an underground bar within walking distance. Good luck getting a place to stand at Barry’s Bar and Grill’s rooftop patio before the game.
