Pat Fitzgerald and his staff received a verbal commitment on Wednesday, adding to the 2021 recruiting class.

Three-star wide receiver Jacob Gill announced that he has committed to Northwestern, becoming the 14th player in the cycle to give his pledge to the Wildcats. Gill made his decision public with a statement on Twitter.

“Thank you to the staff of all the universities that recruited me and gave me an opportunity to play at the next level,” Gill wrote. “The visits, texts, emails and phone calls provided an awesome experience for me seeking a home to grow academically and athletically. I am grateful all you invested in me. With that being said, I am blessed and honored to announce I am 100% committed to Northwestern University!!!”

Gill is a 6-foot, 170-pound wide receiver out of Raleigh, North Carolina. He ranks as the No. 170 receiver in his class and  the No. 53 player out of his home state.

At the high school level, Gill has put up outstanding numbers over the last two seasons. He’s totaled 138 receptions for 1,964 yards and 27 touchdowns in 2018 and 2019. Those numbers helped land him offers from seven other schools.

In addition to Northwestern, Gill held offers from Appalachian State, Charlotte, East Carolina, Liberty, Louisville, NC State and Wake Forest.

Northwestern currently has 14 pledges in the 2021 class. The Wildcats rank 35th nationally and ninth in the B1G.
