Report: B1G leads the way in revenue generated during 2019 fiscal year

The term “big bucks” may actually have to switch to “B1G bucks” following the latest report regarding the amount of revenue the B1G generated during the 2019 fiscal year.
Steve Berkowitz of USA Today recently published the revenue totals that each Power Five conference generated during the 2019 fiscal year. The B1G led the way, reporting more than $780 million in revenue for the year. It was nearly $60 million more than the SEC, which received approximately $721 million in revenue.
Berkowitz discovered the information based on tax returns.
For the 2019 fiscal year, the B1G’s actual total was $781.5 million. That means that the payout for the 12 longest-standing members was around $55.6 million. Maryland and Rutgers receive smaller amounts since they joined the league in 2014.
Typically tax information is released in May. However, because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the IRS granted non-profit organizations additional time.
