Incoming quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa will have a new number with Maryland.

Taulia is the younger brother of former Alabama star Tua Tagovailoa. Both played for the Crimson Tide in 2019 with Taulia throwing for 100 yards and a touchdown in backup duty.

After the season, Tua left Alabama via the NFL Draft while Taulia transferred to the Terrapins. Taulia joins head coach Mike Locksley who previously was the offensive coordinator at Alabama in 2018.

Now that he is with the Terrapins, the younger Tagovailoa will don a new number. After wearing No. 5 with the Crimson Tide, Tagovailoa will wear No. 3 at Maryland.

Radio host Pat Smith shared Maryland’s graphic of the new number:

It is still unclear if Tagovailoa will have immediate eligibility or if he will have to redshirt the 2020 season at Maryland. Either way, let’s hope he can hit the ground running and light things up in the Terrapin offense when he is ready to go.
